Heather Andersen of Penn Yan Academy and Joey Faniel of Clyde-Savannah High School were named Wayne-Finger Lakes Outstanding Track Athletes for 2014.

The award is selected annually by the Wayne-Finger Lakes Track & Field Officials Association. It is based on the athlete’s performances for the year, using national scoring tables and their standings within the Wayne-Finger Lakes Track Schools.

Andersen, a senior at Penn Yan Academy, received the award for her outstanding performance in the 400 meter run, with a time of 00:56.74 seconds at the state meet. She also was at the top among the schools for this award in the 100 meter (00:12.61), 200 meter (00:25.53), and the 800 meter (02:19.58).

The award is the “Leon Hill – Bob Jones Memorial Award” and is given to one female and one male from the schools our officials serve. Which include those of the Wayne-Finger Lakes League and the schools Canandaigua and Victor of the Monroe County League. Hill and Jones were charter members of the Track & Field Official’s Chapter.
