Time is running out to nominate someone to Penn Yan Academy Athletic Hall of Fame

Gary Pinneo

In 1927, a Penn Yan Academy team won its first league championship ever for a high school which prides itself on their athletic programs, athletes, and rich sports tradition. Was it their football team or basketball team? Possibly the Penn Yan baseball team could have achieved this honor.

Well, all of these guesses are wrong. The Penn Yan Academy Rifle team took the honors as the first competitive school team to win a league championship. In fairness, there were some very good winning teams in all of the sports listed. But the organized school leagues did not truly arrive until the late 1920’s. But the fact remains, Penn Yan Academy can boast of many winning teams, talented athletes, and superb coaches in their long, illustrious history. It is time to nominate and honor a new class for the Penn Yan Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. Your input for the Class of 2017 is needed now. And, time is of the essence. Your nominations are needed ASAP.
