Baseball: Mustangs defeat Geneva 4-3 in final at bat to tie for Finger Lakes East Title

The Penn Yan Mustang baseball squad staged 7th inning rally to defeat Geneva 4-3 May 14 in Penn Yan. Trailing 3-1 going into their final at bat, Penn Yan scored 3 runs to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. The winning run scored on a Geneva throwing error. The victory was important for another reason. The win improved their Finger Lakes East record to 10-4. Wayne defeated first place Pal-Mac Thursday to give the Red Raiders a 10-4 league record also. Penn Yan and Pal-Mac will share the FL East title. The two teams split their games this season.

Lukas Larham was the winning pitcher for Penn Yan. He spun a 4 hitter and struck out 7 Panther batters to nail down the win. Larham and Noah Hullings both had RBI doubles for the Mustangs.

Penn Yan 12 Wayne 9

The Mustang baseball team hosted the Eagles from Wayne May 12 at the Elm Street Field in another Finger Lakes east showdown. The Mustangs defeated Wayne 12-9 to improve their league record to 9-4.

The Orange and Blue offense was spirited by shortstop Eric Riehl. The Penn Yan senior clubbed a key 2-run homer to spark the Mustang offense. Lukas Larham went 3-for-3 in this game and drove in 2 runs also. Jon McKay picked up the win on the hill. He struck out 8 Eagle batters.

Dundee 11 HAC 10

The Dundee Scots baseball team stage a 2 out rally to defeat HAC 11-10 in extra innings at home May 14 in Dundee. Wit the score tied at 10 in the 9 inning, Dundee mounted a 2 out rally to pull out this game. Justin Neu singled and stole second base. Scotsman catcher Austin Thompson delivered a single to drive in the speedy Neu and give the hometown nine the win. Justin Neu and Austin Thompson registered 2 hits each in this tightly fought game.

The win improved Dundee's Finger Lakes West record to 5-8. they are 7-8 overall.
