The Penn Yan Mustang boy's basketball resumed Finger Lakes East League action Tuesday evening (Jan. 6) after the two week Christmas holiday break. The Orange and Blue cagers hosted an improving Geneva Panther team hoping to upset the high flying Mustangs. The game was nip and tuck through the first half, with the two teams tied at the midway break. But the Penn Yan five has proved to be tough down the stretch all season, and this evening would not be an exception. Penn Yan pulled away from their Ontario County rivals in the second half enroute to a 57-49 victory.

Junior Tanner Irwin enjoyed the hot hand in this contest, leading the rampaging Mustangs with 19 points. The win improved Penn Yan's FL East record to 4-0. They are tied for first place with Newark. The Mustang's overall record now stands at 7-1. They will travel to Palmyra Friday evening to take on a strong Red Raider team. Pal-Mac is 3-1 in FL East League play. It will be another tough challenge for the Mustang hardwood crew.
