Girl's Basketball

Penn Yan 64 Geneva 41

The Penn Yan Mustang girl's basketball team is hitting stride at the right time. With the regular season nearing its completion and the Section V tournament beginning soon, the Orange and Blue lady cagers are playing some of their best basketball. In Penn Yan Feb. 10, the Mustangs easily defeated the Geneva Panthers 64-41. The victory improved Penn Yan's league record to 9-4. They are in second place in the Finger Lakes League. They have won 11 games out of 19 overall. Section V seedings will be announced next week.

Penn Yan's offense on Friday night was sparked by a big performance by Sydney Bloom. She scored 21 points to top the Mustang scoring sheet. Emily Wunder and Lizzy Lafferty added 12 points while Emalee Rose Brockman chipped in 7 points. Hannah Keech also scored 5 points.

Boy's Basketball

Penn Yan 50 Geneva 42

The Penn Yan Mustang boy's basketball team defeated Geneva 50-42 in a Finger Lakes East game played in Geneva Feb. 10 The win improved Penn Yan's league record to 5-8 with one game remaining against Pal-Mac next week. They are 10-9 overall.

Desmond Battin scored 14 points to pace the Mustang offense. Ben Emerson added 12 points and Dylan Stape chipped in 9 points to the winning Penn Yan numbers.
