Midlakes 30 Penn Yan 20

The Penn Yan Mustang football squad hoped to build on last week's big win over Waterloo at home. They traveled to Phelps to take on a good Midlakes team in another Finger Lakes East contest Sept. 23. But turnovers plagued the Mustangs in this contest. The hometown Eagles flew to a quick lead in the first half and cruised to a 30-20 win. The Orange and Blue scored 20 points in the second half, but it would prove to be too little too late.

Penn Yan's scoring was a 36-yard touchdown pass from Will Rogers to Riley Marsh; a 20- yard touchdown pass from Will Rogers to Desmond Battin; and a 37-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Bailey to Jacob Whitford in the final minutes of the game. Conner Fingar grabbed a pass for the 2-point conversion on the last touchdown. Conner Fingar also led the Mustang defense with 2 sacks.

Penn Yan scored their second touchdown in the 3rd quarter to close Midlakes' lead to 18-12. But the Screaming Eagles salted away their homecoming game win with 2 quick scores keyed by Penn Yan turnovers. The Mustangs scored late in the game to make the final score 30-20.

Midlakes improved to 2-2 with the win. Penn Yan falls to 1-3. The Mustangs will play Pal-Mac Friday evening in Palmyra.

Clyde-Savannah 49 Dundee 6

It was homecoming Saturday at Scotsmen Field in Dundee, but a powerful Golden Eagle team from Clyde-Savannah did most of the celebrating. The first place Eagles scored early and often on their way to a 49-6 victory. Dundee was also missing their starting Quarterback Kyle Cratsley due to injury. But the afternoon belonged to the Golden Eagles. The Scotsmen avoided the shutout by scoring with 50 seconds left in the contest. Senior Jared Jayne ran into the end zone from 8 yards out. It was his first touchdown of the year.

The Scots will try and regroup quickly. They will play Tri Town on Friday. Tri Town has players from South Seneca, Romulus, and Trumansburg. Dundee enters this contest with a 1-3 record.
