The Penn Yan Mustang boy's lacrosse team continued to add wins to their season record. The Penn Yan laxers, playing as an independent during the regular season, picked up another big win over a very talented opponent.

The Orange and Blue crew traveled to Buffalo to take on a very good St. Joseph team Saturday afternoon. St. Joseph plays in the very competitive Buffalo Catholic League in Section VI. The catholic school in Section VI do not compete in the Sectional tournament. So the game against Penn Yan was almost like a sectional game for the St. Joseph laxers. The Mustangs were once again up to the challenge. Penn Yan, using a strong second half performance, defeated St. Joseph 10-8.

The Buffalo area team took a narrow 6-5 lead at the half. Penn Yan scored early in the 3rd quarter, enjoying a man-up advantage to tie the score. The Mustangs grabbed a 8-6 lead after three quarters. The two talented teams traded goals in the final stanza and the visiting Mustangs walked off with the narrow 10-8 win .

Sean Emerson scored 6 goals to lead the Mustang scoring stampede. Craig Gerhardt added 2 goals and 1 assist. Rounding out the Orange and Blue scoring ledger was Austin Finger (1 goal/2 assists) and Ben Covert (1 goal/1 assist). Gage Ponsetti recorded 6 stops in goal to ensure the Penn Yan win.

The game was played in Buffalo before a nice crowd of Penn Yan rooters who made the trek to the Lake Erie shore. The game was also broadcast locally on radio and was televised on Time Warner Sports Network. The Mustangs improve to 8-3 on the season.
