Boy’s Lacrosse: Mustangs down Fairport 9-6

The Penn Yan Mustang boy's lacrosse team used a 6 goal outburst in the 2nd quarter to defeat Fairport 9-6 Thursday evening in Penn Yan. The Monroe County visitors jumped out to a 2-1 first quarter lead before Penn Yan's scoring flurry in the second stanza. The Orange and Blue laxers held off a mini comeback bid by Fairport in the final period and walked off at the buzzer with the 9-6 victory.

Austin Fingar led the Mustangs in scoring with 4 goals. Tate Stewart had 2 goals and Conner Fingar added 1 goal. Craig Gerhardt and Ben Covert added 1 goal and 2 assists each. Sean Emerson contributed 3 assists to the Mustang's scoring totals. Gage Ponsetti stopped 12 Fairport shots in goal for Penn Yan.

The Mustangs improve their record to 9-3 on the season.

Gananda 17 Marcus Whitman 4

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy's lacrosse dropped a 17-4 decision to Gananda in Gorham on Wednesday afternoon. Lane Brown, Tim Cornish, Ben Stennett, and Tyler Wolfe scored the Wildcat goals. Cornish also added an assist. Zack LaBarr recorded 14 saves in the nets for Whitman.

Marcus Whitman's record falls to 1-12 on the season.
