Gary Pinneo

The Penn Yan Mustang boy's lacrosse team hosted the Penfield Patriots from the Monroe League Saturday afternoon. The combination of hot weather and a Mustang offensive power shortage didn't work well for the hometown boys. Penfield effectively controlled the ball all day and limited the Penn Yan offense to just 5 goals. They jumped out to a quick 4-0 first quarter lead, and parlayed that into a 13-5 win over the Orange and Blue.

Penn Yan did have a mini comeback attempt in the third quarter, cutting the Penfield lead to 8-5. But the Patriots rallied in the final stanza, scoring 5 goals to walk off with the win. The Mustangs fall to 9-4 with the loss.

Penn Yan's offense was lead by senior Ben Covert He scored 3 goals and added 1 assist. Craig Gerhart added 2 goals. Tate Stewart and Sean Emerson also had assists. Gage Ponsetti stopped 7 Penfield shots in the Mustang nets.
