Mustangs back on winning track: Penn Yan crushes Horseheads 14-2

The Mustang boy's lacrosse team is back on the winning track. The Orange and Blue laxers quickly ended their short, one game losing streak, with a convincing 14-2 drubbing of Horseheads on Tuesday afternoon in the Glider City. The Mustang lax forces rushed to a big 12-0 advantage after two quarters and ambled to the 14-2 victory. The win improved the Penn Yan season record to 10-4.

Tate Stewart and Sean Emerson led the Mustang scoring parade with 3 goals each. They chipped 5 assists between them also. Austin Finger returned to action after missing the last game with an injury. He tallied 2 goals and added an assist. Craig Gerhardt contributed 2 goals and 2 assists. Ben Emerson, Ben Covert, and Austin Blumbergs also fired in Penn Yan goals. It was the first varsity goal for young Mr. Blumbergs. Gage Ponsetti had 8 saves in the nets for Penn Yan.

The final regular season game for Penn Yan is at home Friday evening. The Mustangs will host Albany Academy with the faceoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Midlakes 15 Marcus Whitman 3

The Marcus Whitman Wildcats dropped a 15-3 decision to Midlakes in Gorham on Tuesday afternoon. Tyler Wolfe scored 2 goals for the Wildcats. Alex Eaves also had a goal while Tom Kikkert added an assist. The Wildcats fall to 1-14 with the loss.
