Boats owned by the Finger Lakes Boating Museum will be displayed Saturday at Hammondsport's Champlin Beach.

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum will hold its 17th annual Boat Show on Saturday at Hammondsport’s Champlin Beach.

“The theme this year is ‘Boats of Keuka Lake,’ a news release says. “The show will exhibit some of the Museum’s premier Finger Lakes-built boats plus classic boats displayed by private owners. Pond boats will be featured. Activities will include demonstrations of boat building skills such as steam bending, oar making, and knot tying.”

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum opened in June on Pleasant Valley Road south of Hammondsport.

The organization has existed since 1996 but didn’t have a museum, keeping its boats in storage and bringing them out for an annual boat show in Geneva. This will be the first time the boat show has been held on Keuka Lake.

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum will be open to visitors during Saturday’s event. For more details, email info@flbm.org or call 794-4567.

• Also Saturday, the fourth annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition will be held from noon-8 p.m. at the Hammondsport Fire Department. Fifteen teams are competing.

There will be BBQ and craft beer tastings, food vendors, raffles, live music, and children’s activities including miniature golf, a bouncy house and slide. For details, go to http:www.hfd-ny.com or call 607-569-2167.
