Allen E. Hayes, 86, of Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away March 22, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Allen was born in Gowanda, N.Y., the son of Ralph and Hazel (Wheeler) Hayes. He was predeceased by his parents, and wife Sandra.

He is survived by a son, Keith and wife Kimberly Hayes of Penn Yan; and daughter, Penny Hayes and her partner Mary Kay Stine of Branchport; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Kalib Hayes; and his feline companion, Barry. Upon graduating from high school, he served in the US Army from 1960-1962. After returning home, Allen drove truck for Seneca Foods for 38 years. He retired from Seneca Foods and drove truck for Ray Emery Vineyards. He was also a passionate member of the American Truck Historical Society and a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club. The family will receive friends at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan on Saturday, April 8 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. and burial with military honors at Lakeview Cemetery.

A reception will follow the burial at the Penn Yan Moose Club.
