Bluff & Vine seeks cover art for Yates County Bicentennial edition
FINGER LAKES - Yates County was founded two hundred years ago, in 1823. To commemorate the bicentennial, the editors of Bluff & Vine will be producing a special edition of the local literary magazine this summer. That’s where you come in; we need an amazing cover for this one-of-a-kind issue!

2023 will bring Yates County’s 200th anniversary and Dundee’s 175th anniversary. PENN YAN -- With 2023 marking 200 years since Yates County was formed out of Ontario County and established as a separate county in 1823, the Yates County History Center has installed an exhibit that pays tribute to the county’s places and people during its bicentennial year.

Kurtis
Kurtis is an 8-year-old senior kitty who loves getting cuddles and warm laps. Kurtis has been at the Shelter of Hope for 9 months and is ready for a new chapter. He is FIV-positive, so he should be the only cat in the home. Kurtis would prefer a quiet home and is a candidate for our “Silver Whiskers” program.

FLH introduces new Athletic Trainer for Dundee
DUNDEE – Finger Lakes Health is proud to announce that Joseph Carr BS, ATC, has recently joined the health system as a Certified Athletic Trainer who will be at local school sporting events in Dundee. Finger Lakes Health is dedicated to providing a continuum of care to its young athletes through its network of physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists and dedicated athletic trainers.

Yates CCE Annual Meeting
PENN YAN – In December, for the first time since 2019, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Yates County held its annual meeting in-person at the Yates County Office Building. Previously held over Zoom for two years, the in-person meeting was an opportunity for the public as we reviewed the year and nominated new board members.

Bath National Cemetery Wreath Cleanup Jan. 14
The public is asked to help with the retrieval and cleanup of wreaths that were placed on Veterans’ graves during last month’s Wreaths Across America Day in Bath National Cemetery. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14 beginning at 10 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate cleanup date will be Jan. 21. Shelter of Hope adoptable pets
Leopold is a 3-year-old Boxer/ Pitty mix. He was brought to the Shelter by Animal Control after being abandoned. This playful guy is a bundle of fun and loves his Humans. He is not very fond of cats, however. Leopold is neutered and microchipped.
