DUNDEE - As summer gets underway, Cobblestone Springs Retreat Center near Dundee is offering several classes and programs to help exercise your creativity. PENN YAN – The Public Universal Friend and the Friend’s followers were the first non-native group to permanently settle the area that is now Yates County. The story of the Public Universal Friend still reverberates throughout history, more than 200 years after the Friend’s death. The Yates County Legislature has joined several other counties in the Southern Tier in declaring a “State of Emergency” directed at immigrants and refugees seeking asylum in the United States in fear that New York City officials will be sending a flood of “illegal immigrants” to Yates County.
