You have an opportunity to join the hundreds of woodland owners who have served their neighbors since 1991. With your existing skills and education resources available through Cornell Cooperative Extension and Cornell’s ForestConnect program, you can be a volunteer that helps other woodland owners more thoroughly enjoy and manage their property by joining Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Forest Owner (MFO) volunteer program.

YCHC receives grant to conserve historic portrait

PENN YAN - The Yates County History Center recently received funding from Greater Hudson Heritage Network to conserve a portrait of Joseph Thayer Sr. Klara Zold, of Corning, has been contracted to perform the conservation work. The portrait is one of three paintings of the Thayer family of Barrington in the History Center’s collection – the other two depicting Thayer Sr.’s wife, Samantha, and his son, Joseph Thayer Jr. – and the second of the three to be conserved.
