YATES COUNTY - The Penn Yan American Legion Post 355 raised funds to purchase a new Ford Explorer to transport veterans to their medical appointments. Key contributors from the Yates County community included Yates County VFW Post 745, Penn Yan Moose Lodge, Penn Yan Elks Lodge, and Relative Risk Brewing.
YATES COUNTY - At the Feb. 13 meeting of the Yates County Legislature, Dr. Douglas Sinclair was unanimously appointed as the next Director of Public Health for Yates County. Sinclair’s appointment comes after the former Director of Public Health, Sara Christensen requested to return to her position as Deputy Director of Public Health. Christensen has served in the Yates County Department of Public Health for 18 years, the last two years as the Director.

PENN YAN - The Yates County Legislators got into the Bicentennial Spirit at their monthly session Monday, Feb. 6 when they publicly proclaimed 2023 to be a year of celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the formation of Yates County as a separate political entity within New York State.
Includes reports from Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Penn Yan Police Department, and New York State Police. These reports do not indicate guilt, only that someone has been charged with an offence. The term “arrested” does not always mean someone was held in jail.
