Yates County Public Health is hosting a COVID-19 Moderna bivalent booster dose clinic The clinic will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m.– noon at the Benton Fire Department.
Includes reports from Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Penn Yan Police Department, and New York State Police. These reports do not indicate guilt, only that someone has been charged with an offence. The term “arrested” does not always mean someone was held in jail.

In keeping with tradition and in memory of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I, the program will begin at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. Veterans Day was known as Armistice Day from the end of World War I until it was changed to Veterans Day in 1954.
FINGER LAKES — The American Red Cross urges blood and platelet donors to give now and help fight the potential impact of seasonal illnesses and a potentially severe flu season on the blood supply. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts a serious spread of flu this year and is already reporting an early spike in cases in several states.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today announced that Environmental Conservation Police Officer (ECO) Josh Crain was honored with the Wildlife Officer of the Year Award from the Shikar-Safari Club International.
PENN YAN -- Yates County has been chosen to pilot a new civil service questionnaire for Correction Officer applicants, which will not include the usual Civil Service exam. “We have several openings for Correction Officer,” says Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike.
SENECA – The N.Y. State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has completed an enforcement action against New England Waste Services of N.Y. Inc., Casella Waste Services of Ontario LLC, and Ontario County to address several years of violations at the Ontario County Landfill on Rte. 5&20 in the town of Seneca. As part of a recent consent order, the facility owner and operators will pay a $500,000 civil penalty for violating the State Environmental Conservation Law and are required to implement comprehensive corrective actions to help prevent future violations at the facility.
