Apple picking in NY

Tom Passmore Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin USA TODAY NETWORK With apple picking season right around the corner, it’s easy to wonder how the dry, hot weather experienced throughout the Southern Tier this summer will impact local apple offerings. In June, the average rainfall for the month is 5.33 inches, but in 2022, the Binghamton area saw only 4.59 inches fall according to the National Weather Service.

NYS launches Grapevine Certification program to protect state’s grape industry

Ball recently announced that the department, in partnership with Cornell University, has relaunched its Grapevine Certification program to protect and support New York’s wine and grape industry.

No, you don’t need an ID to buy NY whipped cream

If you’re younger than 21, you should still be able to buy a can of whipped cream in New York. You just can’t buy a whippet, or whip-it, a small nitrous oxide-filled charger used to aerosolize the dessert topping. On Aug. 29, Democratic state Sen. Joseph Addabbo issued a statement to clarify the intent of a law he sponsored to combat the problem of teenagers getting high by inhaling nitrous oxide from whippets.
