No, you don’t need an ID to buy NY whipped cream

If you’re younger than 21, you should still be able to buy a can of whipped cream in New York. You just can’t buy a whippet, or whip-it, a small nitrous oxide-filled charger used to aerosolize the dessert topping. On Aug. 29, Democratic state Sen. Joseph Addabbo issued a statement to clarify the intent of a law he sponsored to combat the problem of teenagers getting high by inhaling nitrous oxide from whippets.

DEC seeks public comments on Keuka land management plans

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is revising the Keuka Highlands Unit Management Plan (UMP) and the Keuka Lowlands UMP to create one UMP that details the management objectives for both lands. In preparation for the development of a single draft UMP, the DEC is seeking public input on the past or future management of these two properties.

Grant to fund Yates 200 Bicentennial Exhibit

The Yates County History Center has received a $5,000 Action grant from Humanities New York to support Yates 200, the exhibit anticipate to open next year in the L. Caroline Underwood Museum to celebrate Yates County’s bicentennial. Through commemorating 200 years of Yates County history, the exhibit will employ local artists to display that history and tell the story of Yates County through their artwork. It is expected the exhibit will open in February 2023.
