SENECA LAKE - The 59th Annual National Lake Trout Derby will be held May 27-29 on Seneca Lake. Since 1964, Seneca, the largest of the Finger Lakes and “The Lake Trout Capital of the World,” has been the locale for The National Lake Trout Derby, one of the longest standing fishing derbies in the Finger Lakes.

FINGER LAKES – The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) reminds everyone that the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning that lasts through May 14. With warmer temperatures and lower humidity, the risk of fire increased across the state this week. The Fire Danger Map for the 2023 fire season on DEC’s website is updated with the latest fire conditions.
The 42nd Annual Canandaigua Lake Trout Derby will be held June 3 and 4. Proceeds from the annual event benefit three local charities: Camp Good Days and Special Times, Hospeace House, and Mercy Flight Central. The derby has provided over $241,000 to charity during its 41-year history. These funds have been made possible by the entrance fees paid by participants and generous, local businesses and sponsors.
