Finger Lakes Community Health is a community health center program with nine health center sites that serve 29,000 patients annually. About 36% of our patients have Medicaid, and it is a lifeline for them and for our ability to provide them with comprehensive care.

FINGER LAKES -- The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) has received a $100,000 grant through the New York State Conservation Partnership Program to launch the Hemlock to High Tor Initiative. This effort will ensure the future conservation of a 114,000-acre forested landscape extending from Hemlock Lake in the west to the High Tor Wildlife Management Area in Yates County near Naples.

In their three Sectional games, the Mustangs scored 19 points in each while holding their opponents to a single digit score.

GRADUATIONS Clarkson University POTSDAM -- Students from Clarkson University were awarded bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees this spring at Commencement on May 10, 2025. Eric Lowell Fingar, of Penn Yan, received a bachelor of science degree in computer science, mathematics minor.

Yates County Sheriff Frank Ryan received multiple calls and inquiries from local citizens last week due to a press release from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which listed Yates County "a sanctuary county." In response to reporters' inquiries, Ryan stated, "Rest assured that we are working to determine why we were placed on this list after a 2019 resolution by our legislature opposed sanctuary status, and how to remove our county from the list." "The Yates County Sheriff's Office has always, and will always, work to assist our Federal Law Enforcement partners to the fullest extent we are allowed by New York State law to do. There are no plans in place to change the way we assist our Federal Law Enforcement agencies in the future.

After spending two weeks out of the area, just driving along the familiar roads in Yates County is a comforting experience. It's so good to be home, where there are friends and neighbors around every corner.

FINGER LAKES - It's finally spring and area duffers are eagerly warming up for golf season. Again, this year, they are invited to put all that time on the greens toward a good cause: Golfers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in the 108 Holes for Health Challenge, the annual virtual, season-long outing benefiting UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health.

DUNDEE - -State Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Michael Rogers, Director of Community Relations for State Senator Tom O'Mara, visited Dundee Junior-Senior High School to pay tribute to girls state wrestling champion Peyton Mullin, who earlier this year won her second consecutive state title in the 235-pound weight class Feb. 25 at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls Invitational State Championship at the MVP Arena in Albany.
