FLHEDC awarded $375,000 state grant to revitalize downtown Dundee

The Finger Lakes Horizon Economic Development Corporation (FLHEDC) an affiliate organization to the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center (FLEDC), announced Governor Kathy Hochul awarded a $375,000 New York Main Street (NYMS) Grant to the FLHEDC, to support a comprehensive Building Renovation Program in the Village of Dundee. This funding will provide financial assistance to mixed-use building owners for façade improvements, first-floor commercial space renovations, and construction or renovation of upper-floor apartments in downtown Dundee.

Greenidge provides 90%+ of production to local grid during recent frigid weather

DRESDEN – Greenidge Generation supplied more than 90% of the generation from the Dresden power plant to the local electrical grid during recent extreme cold weather and peak demand on the local grid. The power generated from Greenidge's Yates County plant ensures electrical system reliability and helps keep power prices down for local residents and businesses.

Bird flu strikes Seneca Lake

KASHONG - Yates and Ontario County Public Health officials were notified last week that Snow Geese discovered dead on the west side of Seneca Lake at Kashong Point, are being tested for H5N1, also known as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). The mouth of Kashong Creek marks the border of the two counties.
