PENN YAN – Cornell Cooperative Extension-Yates County is a proud participant in America Saves Week, an annual national campaign encouraging and empowering individuals, families, employers, and communities to check in on their finances. GATES - For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Marcus Whitman Marching Wildcat Winterguard took first place at the Northeast Color Guard Circuit Championships, delivering a standout performance at Gates Chili High School on Saturday, March 29. Competing in the Regional A Class, the team achieved a season-high score of 83.93 with their 2025 production, "Tightrope." Set to the titular song from "The Greatest Showman," the program explores the power of trust and collaboration, reminding audiences that life's challenges are best faced together.

The 20th annual observance of Sunshine Week was held March 16-22. While it has nothing to do with climate or seasons, Sunshine Week is a time to recognize the importance of viewing information in the open, something that is critical to democracy.
