Penn Yan Elks Hoop Shoot girls make history

This past weekend, the Penn Yan Girls' Youth Basketball Program made history by securing the win in all three age groups in the Elks West Central District Hoop Shoot, with Harper Hamm snagging the championship in the 8–9-year-old division, Laikyn Woodruff the 10–11-year-old division and Lucy Willson the 12–13-year-old division. Six participants total participated, also including Penn Yan's Evan Daggett in the boys' 8–9-year-old age group, Leo Monfort-Pittayathikhun the boys' 10–11-year-old age group, and for the boys' 12–13-year-old age group Lucas Bacher.

OUTDOORS Winter pheasant release at Hi Tor

YATES COUNTY - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced new late-season pheasant stocking to enhance hunting opportunities in DEC's Region 8. Over the last two weeks, approximately 670 additional adult ring-necked pheasants were released on public lands open to hunting in Yates, Steuben, Ontario, Chemung, and Livingston Counties.
