RED CROSS Help prevent blood shortages in 2025 by giving blood or platelets now

The American Red Cross urges donors to make an appointment to give lifesaving blood or platelets in the new year to help keep the blood supply strong this winter. Type O negative blood donors and those giving platelets are especially urged to give now to keep critical blood products on the shelves for patients in need.

FLLT acquisition will add to NY's largest Wildlife Management Area

FINGER LAKES - The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) has purchased 30 wooded acres adjacent to the Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in the town of Catharine, Schuyler County. Located southeast of Seneca Lake off of Oak Hill Road, the property shares a boundary with a picturesque section of the Finger Lakes Trail which follows along Cayuta Creek, a tributary of the Susquehanna River.

Mega Millions Jackpot generated $55.8 million for NY schools and lottery retailers

Even though last week's Mega Millions jackpot was won elsewhere, New York State's public schools and Lottery retailers won big with ticket sales and commissions totaling $55.8 million during the most recent jackpot rollup. "New York's schools and small businesses always win, even if the lottery jackpot is hit elsewhere," said New York State Gaming Commission Chair Brian O'Dwyer.
