RUSHVILLE - The Marcus Whitman Marching Wildcat Winterguard is hosting its annual 'Artistry in Motion' Winterguard Show on Saturday, Jan. 18, presented by the Marcus Whitman Band & Guard Boosters.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Pastor Deb Roher led the Benton United Methodist Church in its final service after 231 years. The final two services each had almost 70 people in attendance.

YATES COUNTY - The Finger Lakes Economic Development Center (FLEDC) delivered successful results driving steady economic growth for its 10th straight year. In 2024 the FLEDC participated in more than 30 economic development projects (company attractions, expansions/retentions).

In early December, Governor Kathy Hochul said, "My agenda for the coming year will be laser-focused on putting money back in your pockets." A few weeks later, the governor signed into law what's known as the "Climate Change Superfund Act," the latest step in the ongoing implementation of a radical agenda of energy mandates that many of us believe will do next to nothing to address climate challenges we experience here locally as New York only accounts for 0.4% of global emissions, but will wind up imposing huge costs on our state's consumers, industries, taxpayers, and local economies. Welcome to the current state of New York, where one week the governor pledges to be "laser-focused" on affordability and a few weeks later signs into law yet another mandate that will cost all of us a bundle.

After the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, a few things have been rattling around my brain like crumbs in the bottom of the Christmas cookie tin. Here are a some thoughts to begin a new year which will likely be full of things to opine about.

GIRLS WRESTLING Jan. 4, Red Jacket Freestyle Tournament The Dundee/Bradford/Penn Yan girls wrestling traveled to Red Jacket high school on Saturday for an all-day freestyle tournament.
