We continue facing an era in state government that will forever be defined by a "no consequences" approach to law and order. And in a state that remains, at least for the foreseeable future, under one-party, all-Democrat control, there appears to be no let up on that approach.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Yates County History Center, I am writing to state our organization's support of the preservation of historic buildings, such as the 1828 gristmill in Bellona. This mill, a unique piece of architecture, is threatened by demolition and development of the site.

Once again, we are sounding the alarm that our brave correction officers are under siege, and New York is doing nothing to help them. At a time when assaults on officers have reached an all-time high, we should be working to fix this problem.
Will the retail box stores, the strip malls that line the highways around cities and villages, or the shopping malls that are quickly becoming ghosts of themselves be seen worthy of preservation in 100 years? I doubt it, and I bet I won't be around to chime in on that question. But it seems there's an awakening of community support for preservation of buildings that do have historic value.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Yates County held their annual 4-H Achievement Ceremony on November 10. Awards recognized 4-H members, leaders, parents, and volunteers for their hard work, accomplishments, and dedication to the Yates County 4-H program during the past 4-H year.
PENN YAN - Following the public hearing Thursday, Nov. 21, the Yates County Legislature unanimously passed the budget for 2025.
