A two-car accident with injuries occurred Jan. 25 at the intersection of Rtes. 14 and 54 in Dresden. Yates County Sheriff Office Deputies (YCSO), Medic 55, Penn Yan Ambulance Corps, Dresden and Penn Yan Fire Depts. responded. The driver of the first vehicle, Victoria B. Jensen, 19, of Guyanoga Road, Branchport, failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, colliding with the vehicle of Ellen P. Burlew, 86, of New Michigan Road, Farmington. Jensen was checked over and released at the scene with no injuries. Burlew was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua to be checked over for complaints of abdominal pain.
Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a complaint at 4:18 a.m. Jan. 26 that two individuals had been smoking marijuana at a West Lake Road Motel and had left on foot. Deputies made contact with the two and discovered Michael J. Hand, 18, of Union St., Dundee, with marijuana. he was charged with unlawful possession and released to appear in Jerusalem Town Court.
Tiffanie L. Simonsen, 25, of Stanley, was charged with driving with a suspended registration Jan. 27 by Penn Yan Police Dept. Officers (PYPD). She will appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
Curtis J. Northrop, 35, of Italy Valley Road, Naples, was arrested Jan. 27 by PYPD following a traffic stop for driving with an expired inspection sticker and a missing driver’s side mirror. A DMV check showed his license was suspended. Northrup was also charged with 3rd degree AUO and released to appear in village court.
Ryan D. King, 36, of Hill Street, Rushville, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. Jan. 28 by Yates County Deputies who observed him pull into the parking lot of a closed business. Investigation revealed he was driving with a suspended driver’s license and he smelled of alcohol. Failing field sobriety tests, King was arrested for DWI and taken to the Yates County Jail for a chemical test. He was charged with common law DWI, DWI with a .08% BAC or greater, 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO), driving an unregistered vehicle and an uninspected vehicle, insufficient tail lamps. He was released to appear in Potter Town Court.
Devin M. Armstrong, 25, of Court St., Penn Yan, was charged with 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation Jan. 28 by PYPD. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Robert J.M. Mattero, 65, of East Elm St., Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 28 by PYPD after he allegedly violated a stay away order of protection by being at the same location as the protected person. He was charged with 2nd degree criminal contempt and will appear in village court.
A car vs. dump truck accident occurred at 8:08 a.m. Jan. 29 at the intersection of Seneca and Edwina Streets in Dundee. YCSO reports William E. Fultz Jr., of Stoll St., Dundee, was driving the Village of Dundee truck when he pulled in front of a vehicle driven by Lisa K. Raplee, of Rte. 226, Dundee. Dundee Fire & Ambulance and Medic 55 also responded. Raplee was taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital with leg pain. Fultz was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
Following a traffic stop Jan. 29 on Buckle Road in Barrington, YCSO arrested passenger Benjamin H. Johnston, 21, of Magee St., Dundee, on an active warrant from Dundee Village Court for failure to appear. Johnston also had an active warrant from Watkins Glen Village Court. Per New York State Bail Reform Law, Johnston was released and turned over to Watkins Glen Police.
Ronald A. McQuaid Sr., 57, of Lovejoy Road, Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 30 by PYPD for 7th degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. McQuaid was previously arrested in a Dec. 26 incident where officers discovered a white powdery substance. Lab testing confirmed that the substance was cocaine. McQuaid was released with an appearance ticket for village court later.
Christopher J. Burns, 42, of Elm St., Penn Yan, was charged with issuing a bad check Jan. 30 by YCSO after one he wrote was returned, “Not sufficient funds.” He was released to appear in Jerusalem Town Court.
Aurel Jovanov, 34, of Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 30 by Penn Yan Police for violating a stay away order of protection when he was found at a residence where he was prohibited by court order. Jovanov was charged with two counts of 2nd degree criminal contempt and was held at the county jail to await Yates County Centralized Arraignment Court.
Alex Ziriada, 25, of West Lake Road, Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 30 by PYPD after a report of a male trying to open car doors behind a business on Lake Street. Investigation led to Ziriada being charged with attempted petit larceny. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Timothy J. Bennett, 51, of Benham St., Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 30 by PYPD for violating an order of protection by contacting the protected person by phone. Due to a previous conviction, he was charged with an aggravated family offense and 2nd degree harassment, and was held at the county jail to await arraignment.
Daniel J. Tiaskkun turned himself in to PYPD Jan. 31, following a Jan. 26 incident where Tiaskkun intentionally disobeyed a stay away order of protection for his 1-year-old child. While at the child’s home, Tiaskkun stood over his child’s mother and threatened to kill her.Tiaskkun was charged with 2nd degree criminal contempt and 2nd degree harassment, and was held at the county jail for arraignment.
Alicia I. Proctor, 23, of Flint Road, Stanley was arrested for drunk driving following a one-car personal injury accident Jan. 31 on Rte. 364 in Middlesex. YCSO, Middlesex Fire & Ambulance, and Penn Yan Ambulance responded. Passenger Jaushwa Dykeman, 26, of Eagle Lane, Penn Yan, was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua with an arm injury, and passenger Desirae Gage-Flook, 29, of Co. Rte. 46, Hopewell, was taken to Geneva General with injuries to her head, neck, and back. Smelling of alcohol, Proctor failed field sobriety tests. She was charged with DWI, taken to the county jail for a chemical test, and was held for arraignment.
Zachariah Hubbard, 25, of Branchport, was arrested Feb. 1 by PYPD after police found him drinking a beer on Firehouse Ave. Hubbard was given a warning by officers and released. Hubbard proceeded to obtain another beer and was found to be drinking on Firehouse Ave. again. Hubbard was arrested for an open container violation. He was processed at PYPD and released with an appearance ticket.
Scott P. Parsons, 40, of Academy St., Naples, was arrested Feb. 1 by YCSO after a traffic stop on Rte. 245 in Middlesex. Investigation revealed his license was revoked with a total of 30 suspensions. He was charged with felony 1st degree AUO, obstructed driver’s view, and failure to notify DMV of address change. He was held at the county jail to await arraignment.
Nicole L. Barber, 30, of Depot Road, Stanley, was charged with driving with a suspended registration Feb. 2 by PYPD. She was released with to appear in village court.
A one-car property damage accident occurred Feb. 2 on Rte. 54 in Barrington. YCSO reports Elizabeth P. Morgan, 21, of Colonial Lawns, Bath, went off the road and struck several trees. A license check showed she was driving with a suspended N.Y. non-driver ID card. She was charged with 3rd degree AUO, and was released with an appearance ticket for Barrington Town Court.
Jade S. Smith, 21, of County House Woods Road, Bluff Point, was charged with 3rd degree AUO and speeding after a traffic stop on Liberty Street. A license check showed hers to be suspended. She will appear in village court.
Matthew W. Johnson, 22, of Castle Road, Clifton Springs, was chared with driving with a suspended registration Feb. 3 by PYPD. He will appear in village court.
