Penn Yan Academy’s Golden Season!

Penn Yan Academy has had a remarkable end to the 2023 Spring athletic season, capturing Sectional titles in boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, baseball (the first time in 40 years) and track and field. While the individual teams of course had ups and downs in their respective seasons, all four Penn Yan sports programs have big achievements to celebrate.

Keuka Arts Festival this weekend!

PENN YAN – More than 90 art and food vendors have reserved their places at this year’s Keuka Arts Festival Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11 in Penn Yan. Joined by a roster of some of the region’s favorite musical groups, visitors will be entertained in all three sections of the festival along the Outlet Trail this year. The free, annual event features the works of more than 100 individual artists, plus food, local wine, spirits, and craft beer vendors, as well as activities for families. The festival runs 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. June 10, and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. June 11 along the Keuka Lake Outlet Trail from the Main St. Bridge to the boat launch in Penn Yan.

Community Chorus Spring Concert June 11

The Penn Yan Community Chorus, accompanied by Lucinda Loomis, will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, June 11, at 2 p.m. The concert will feature several of the chorus’ favorite songs such as “Sing My Child” and medley of tunes from the musical “Ragtime.” New music will also be presented including “The Old Mill”, “All Star” as an English madrigal, and “Voice in the Wind” performed by the chorus women.

Longmeadow Woodswalk June 9

The Yates County Master Forest Owners invite you to join us for a Woods Walk on Friday, June 9 at 9 a.m. at the Tschorke family cabin, “Longmeadow.” This woods walk will highlight the 40-acre property with a cabin and barn. There are 30 acres of northern hardwoods and beautiful stands of conifers. The other 10 acres hold about seven acres of blue lupines, which are quite impressive in early June.

Graduations SUNY Potsdam POTSDAM -- The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized the Class of 2023 during the College’s 203rd Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 20. Local graduates include: • Jonathan Lasek of Naples, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education • Drew Wertman of Penn Yan, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeological Studies, summa cum laude.

Inaugural Keuka College Expo

KEUKA PARK — Keuka College’s Lightner Library was uncharacteristically raucous earlier this month as the serious solitude of study gave way to exuberant exhibitions of scholarship and creativity. It was all part of the first Keuka College Expo, a celebratory symposium of the College community’s artistic, intellectual, and creative achievements with a special focus on experiential learning.
