Whitman Winterguard takes Gold at Circuit Championships
GATES - For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Marcus Whitman Marching Wildcat Winterguard took first place at the Northeast Color Guard Circuit Championships, delivering a standout performance at Gates Chili High School on Saturday, March 29. Competing in the Regional A Class, the team achieved a season-high score of 83.93 with their 2025 production, "Tightrope." Set to the titular song from "The Greatest Showman," the program explores the power of trust and collaboration, reminding audiences that life's challenges are best faced together.

PYA alum Bouchard earns America East Pitcher and Rookie of the Week
Brady Bouchard, a 2024 graduate of Penn Yan Academy, was recently awarded the America East Baseball Conference's Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week. Bouchard began his college career with Binghamton's Division 1 baseball program this year.
Katie Deatherage earns second Sportswoman of the Year
KEUKA PARK — The basketball career of Katie Deatherage (Marcus Whitman) ends like it started as the senior was named Keuka College's selection for Empire 8 Women's Basketball Sportswoman of the Year. Deatherage was also named Sportswoman of the Year following her freshman season.

Mar. 15 New York State Bowling Championships, Division 2 Penn Yan Academy had three bowlers compete in the state championships, with Anella Tillman, Connor Andersen, and Colin Johnson earning their spots in the girls' and boys' State Composite Teams from their performance during the regular season and Sectionals.

Penn Yan Academy Senior Julia Maldonado has signed her National Letter of Intent to join Long Island University's Division 1 bowling program. Maldonado has been a top bowler for the Mustangs throughout her high school career.
