Penn Yan Academy held their 29th annual Academic Excellence Day on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Academic Excellence Day recognizes students who have achieved a Grade Point Average of 90 or better during the previous school year. Students who have reached the target GPA receive a letter of recognition, those that have achieved the target GPA for two years receive a pin and students that have achieved the target GPA for three years receive a plaque. This year, there were 97 students who were recognized, including 44 letters, 32 pins and 21 plaques.

PENN YAN -- The 37th Annual Starshine, a longtime holiday tradition in the Village of Penn Yan, will occur on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 4-7 p.m. The evening will be a variety of music, entertainment, food, vendors, colorful lights, holiday treats, activities for children, and the crowning of Miss Penn Yan.
YATES COUNTY -- The two major political parties in Yates County reached out to their base of registered voters with phone calls, letters, and postal cards in an attempt to get them to the polls and voting for the party’s candidates. Both parties also reported having attempted to enroll new voters and to solicit support from voters with no party affiliation.

Bertha is a 3-year-old American Bulldog. She came to the Shelter with her pup, Bruno. Bertha is not too friendly with other dogs but loves her humans. Bertha is very playful and going for walks is her favorite pastime.
