JAMES C. MACIEJEWSKI

James C. Maciejewski, 52, of Penn Yan, N.Y. passed away after a brief illness on March 9, 2023. Jamie was born in Penn Yan, the son of James A. and MaryAnn (Ellmann) Maciejewski. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1988 and continued his education earning an Associate Degree from Monroe Community College. Jamie began his career as a dispatcher for the Yates County Sheriff’s Office. He then accepted a position as a patrolman for the Penn Yan Police Department where he became a member of the Yates County Fire Investigation Team. He retired as a Sergeant from the Penn Yan Police Department in 2017. After retirement, he began working for Coach and Equipment delivering manufactured buses to their destinations. Jamie was involved in many local organizations. He was a member of the Penn Yan Fire Department Hydrant Hose Company, having served as a captain and president of his company as well as other offices. He was also a former volunteer at the Penn Yan Ambulance Corp. He was a member of the Penn Yan Moose Lodge, the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club, as well as a lifetime member of the Penn Yan Elks #1722. Jamie loved to travel with his wife Heidi. They traveled the world during their marriage. They loved camping, riding the Harley and trips with friends. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 312 Liberty St., Penn Yan on March 25, 2023, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 to 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the mass. He will be interred at St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date. Jamie was predeceased by his father James A. Maciejewski and father-in-law Dale F. Hansen. He is survived by his loving wife Heidi (Hansen) Maciejewski; mother Mary Ann Maciejewski; brothers Dennis (Shelley) Maciejewski, and Michael Maciejewski; five nephews and one niece; mother-in-law Jeanne L. Hansen; sister-in-law Holly Moynihan (Charles); and their fur babies Walker and Alex. Jamie was also survived by man

DAVID MILLER

David Miller, a devoted family man, horse enthusiast, and truck driver, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the age of 74 in Penn Yan, N.Y. Raised by Dorcas Miller, David discovered his passion for truck driving at an early age and spent most of his life on the road, traveling across the country and delivering goods to various destinations.

ALICE ALTHEA MCKERNAN

Alice Althea McKernan (née Armstrong) died February 2023, in Tucson, Ariz. at age 90. Alice was born on October 29, 1932, in Penn Yan, the daughter of Stuart and Blanche Armstrong. Alice graduated from Penn Yan Academy (class of 1950), and the Univ. of Rochester School of Nursing. After graduation, Alice moved to Arizona where she met her husband, Harold. Together, they lived in many interesting places around the country. After Harold’s retirement, they settled in Colorado for a number of years. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel around the globe. Alice made many trips to China, Tibet, Peru, England, Scotland, and Ireland, and made many friends along the way. She returned to the desert she loved in early 2000. While in Tucson, she often volunteered at local parks and at the library. She was always learning new crafts, including pine needle basket weaving. She is survived by her husband, Harold, of 65 years, daughter, Peggy Jobe of Broken Bow, Okla., and sons Thomas McKernan of Littleton, Colo., and Stuart McKernan of Santa Fe, N.M., and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Robert Armstrong of Penn Yan, and sister, Sally Welker of Rush, N.Y.
